On the 3rd July 2007, Becky & I new that our life would never be the same!
On the 2nd of September we new that our life would now be in the most awesome city on the planet, leading a community of people who we had never met before.
Be warned – if you ask God for an adventure, He always comes through with the goods!
We now find ourselves repositioned to a new city, a new church, a new team and new horizons. At certain moments, I have to gulp when I realise the magnitutde of what God is asking of us; at other times I resemble a small boy in a sweet shop.
2005 – 2007 has seen Becky and I travel through a morphing period, where God has been molding and shaping us to be used of Him. We are no longer the people that we used to be and are ready for the adventure that lies ahead.
1 Samuel 14 tells the extraordinary story of how Johnathon & his armour bearer pursued God into wonderful possibilites. They refused to settle in the comfort of the pomegranate tree and chose the uncertain path of adventure. Can I encourage you to read this epic chapter and allow the adventurous spirit of Johnathon to grip you.
Too many of us are comfortable, enjoying life and loving Jesus. I believe with a passion that God is looking for those that say ‘this is not enough, there must be more to serving the most radical person on the planet!’. Jesus modelled adventure. Follow Jesus into an adventure that will turn your world upside down. I urge you follow Him into uncertainty like the boys in Daniel 3:16-18. The world is screaming out for someone to follow!
Being the new boy is kind of like “oh boy!”.
Becky & I face new challenges every day. I’m discovering that a life of adventure is just that. I’m learning ‘life to the full’ means exactly that – full.
If ‘it is impossible to please God without faith’, I think God is smiling upon Becky & I.
I think He is smiling on Bethel. I think He is smiling on Stoke on Trent.
