Here is something that I find fascinating. Jesus believes in us more than we believe in Him.
I know I may sound a little confused but hear me out…
We constantly live with insecurity and indecisiveness regarding our activity with phrases like, ‘I cannot do that’; ‘There is no way I can do that’; ‘I’m not sure I’m good enough’; ‘God please help me,’ and other such comments.
Yet Jesus is always pushing us to do greater and grander feats.
The feeding of the 5000 people we always attribute to Jesus but when I read it closely, I see the outcome could have been so different. Luke 9: 13 tells us that Jesus, having absolute confidence in His team, says, ‘YOU give them something to eat.’
The disciples freaked out and Jesus performed a miracle.
Yet if the disciples had believed in themselves as much as Jesus did the story would have been so different.
You can do it.
Believe in yourself a little more…
Jesus does!
Surely Jesus was encouraging the disciples with further faith in HIM, not in ourselves? After all it was completely outside of their power to feed the multitude.
Great blog…I think we analyse stuff sometimes and make it complicated.. Jesus simplifies it- Go- Love-. I love how the resonsibilty is put on us!!!
Love this.
It’s like the scripture where John the Baptist talks in John 3:30 saying, “He must become greater; I must become less.” People love to take this to say Jesus does all the hard work whilst we just sit back and say, ‘More Lord, more of you, less of me’.
Now however, we have the Spirit of God living inside of us, empowering us so Jesus actually wants us to have boldness and confidence in who WE ARE, IN HIM.
Since God has chosen to build his church and use it to reach this world FOR HIM, this is a huge challenge to us as his church to get active and DO STUFF for him.
Love it.
